About

The Merle Beattie Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization is a volunteer-led nonprofit dedicated to helping the students, teachers and staff of Beattie Elementary. We do this through organizing events, providing funds for extra school resources and coordinating teach appreciation celebrations.

Come be a part of something bigger and having a lasting impact on students.

Our Mission

The Beattie PTO mission is to enrich and enhance the education of students, to strengthen communication between parents and staff, to promote school spirit, and to host activities at Merle Beattie Elementary School.

Our Vision

We see a school that is the center of our community. A place where neighbors, friends and family congregate. A place where everyone feels at home.

Our Bylaws

As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, we operate under the rules laid out in our bylaws.

Where do PTO funds go?

PTO provides many extra resources and opportunities for the students, staff and teachers of Beattie Elementary. The following is just a snapshot of those efforts. — Although LPS provides some field trips, others are paid for by the PTO, such as Wildlife Encounters for K-2nd grade and the Saltdogs game for fifth graders. — LPS provides some computers and software, but other technology is available to students or teachers because of our tech program. — Garden and playground enhancements, including the development of vegetable beds, prairie plantings, wetland planting (which solved the flooding issues on the playground), and the playground walking track all were funded by PTO. — Funding supervision during Morning Walking Club allows students to safely gather and talk while walking the playground track before school each morning. — Staff appreciation events such as a back-to-school lunch, meals each night of parent-teacher conferences and several more simple (but critical) events throughout the school year allow us to thank the amazing teachers and staff at Beattie. — Community Events such as Fall Fun Night, Art Night and Glow Dance, which help connect our community — After-School Clubs, which offer specialized learning experiences for our students.
